1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a server stores in your browser. They help services function (e.g., remembering you're signed in) or remember preferences (e.g., your chosen language).

2. Cookies we use

Uptraq uses only essential (strictly necessary) cookies. We use no analytics or marketing cookies (no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar trackers).

2.1. Authentication session

  • Name: better-auth.session_token
  • Purpose: keeps you signed in
  • Lifetime: 30 days (rolling — extended on activity)
  • Type: first-party, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax
  • Legal basis: contract performance (access to protected Account features)

2.2. Locale preference

  • Name: NEXT_LOCALE
  • Purpose: remembers your chosen UI language (sk/cs/en/de/pl/hu/uk)
  • Lifetime: 1 year
  • Type: first-party, SameSite=Lax
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest in functional localization

2.3. Cookie notice acknowledgement

  • Name: uptraq-cookie-consent
  • Purpose: remembers you've seen the cookie notice so it isn't shown again
  • Lifetime: 1 year
  • Type: first-party, SameSite=Lax
  • Legal basis: compliance with statutory information duty

3. Cookie notice

On first visit, a brief cookie notice appears. Because we use only essential cookies with no analytics or marketing, consent is not legally required under § 109(8) of Slovak Act No. 452/2021 — the banner serves the information duty only. After acknowledgement, uptraq-cookie-consent records that.

4. Managing cookies

4.1. In the browser

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

4.2. Consequences of blocking

Without essential cookies, Uptraq cannot be used:

  • Blocking the session cookie signs you out and prevents sign-in
  • Blocking the locale cookie loads the UI in the default language (Slovak)

5. Third-party cookies

We use no third-party cookies in the signed-in Service. Lemon Squeezy may set its own cookies during the payment flow — those follow Lemon Squeezy's policy.

6. Changes

When changing the cookies we use, we update this document and notify Users by email or in-app at least 30 days before the effective date.
